Studio Calico printable weekly challenge!

The Studio Calico printables are such a great addition to the kits and work well on all projects including layouts, cards and Project Life spreads.  They probably give you the most “bang for your buck” of any product out there! You can use them as is, or you can alter them before printing or after printing to make them fit your needs. We’ll be working with the Block Party printables today, but since they are no longer available we wanted to let you know that you can try these same ideas with the Front Row printables and HERE!

And this is mine and Suzy’s this week challenge on Studio Calico blog! Just use the Studio Calico printables on a layout, card or project life spread and past your creation into the Studio Calico member gallery.

I would like to present you my February’s pages where I used a lot of printables! This is my favourite layout: ‚We were here’, where I used a set of printables coming from ‚Bright Ideas‚ classes which will start in two days!!! You still have a time to sign up for them and get this amazing set of printables and much, much more!

We were here SCI made this simple composition using printables and I add some gesso and watercolours to give a tiny artsy touch to it. And you know what? I really like the effect. It was a pure pleasure!

I looove this page! I am in love with these colours, I love the photo of my best friend I took in Paris last year on her own balcony and I adore these amazing printable cards design by Natalia.

say BONJOUR to Paris SC

I combined a simple composition. I would like to expose the photo and this printable card most. I created a few layers and added some doodles using a pencil and some silver glitter doodles. I use only add-on 4 to make this layout. And printables.

Ok, so once again… We challenge you to use any of the Studio Calico printables on a layout, card, or Project Life spread. Try them as is or alter them to make them work for you. It’s one of the most easy and economical products to use on your layouts. We hope you enjoy using them as much as we did! Create a project for this challenge, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Leave there a link to your project by February 4th the comments on Studio Calico blog to be entered to win a $5 GC to the Studio Calico Shop.

‚Front Row’ :: Studio Calico PL kit!

front_row_headerToday we have a ‚Front Row’ Project Life kit!  This was my first PL kit ever and I am super excited about this! I use almost all of my PL cards to make layers on my pages… and I combine a mini. Let’s start from the beginining.

SCFeb2013PL-2

This is a February’s ‚Front Row’ PL kit… OK, I’m speechless 🙂 I don;t know where to start! Do you see those cards?! this wooden one with ‚&’?! and this one with this AMAZING ‚to the moon & back’ print?!!! I was so inspired by these tiny things! And these are my creations inspired by these cards and details:

to the moon & back SC

I think this is one of my favourites layouts this month. I took the photo of my sweet child from the early morning houres – as you probably know our children are most lovely when they are sleepy or just after they wake up, so… I thought that this amazingly sweet Project Life card from the PL kit will be perfect for this layout.  I cut some pieces of different blue papers and combined them like a collage. I added a little bit of gesso here and there and some watercolours in blue/yellow palette.  I also add this month’s printables – I adore them – as always 🙂  You can find here some pencil doodlings and stamping. I used the PL stamp set from the PL kit.

This page is something extraordinary for me because usually I don’t use brown and beige – I really don;t like much these colours. But this time I was so inspired by these amazing PL cards from Project Life kit. I couldn’t resist myself!

beautiful morning SC I found these twins photos and composed a basic composition build on a square. And here – I stucked. I had no idea what to do next and finally I decided to use my favourite motive – triangle – and duplicate it in several sizes. The composition of all these triangles is like a whole piece of patterned paper – this was my second option (but I use this trick in my previous layout so this time I decided to spent more time to create this part of composition). I cut some triangles in my baze and covered them with different patterned papers from the add-ons. In the end of my work I added some wood veneer embellishments: arrows and lovely star. Of course I didn’t forget about doodles and splashes.

morning2

This is so ‚me’! 🙂 I love to work with my everyday photos. The meaning fo this page is so simple. I had a bad day. Really BAD day. I was stressed and unhappy. When I saw these beautiful shades of mint and blue I though – I’m in ‚blue mood’ today, so this must be a sign! I have to make a blue/mint layout!

bad day SC

I used some PL cards from the PL kit, some printables , amazing stamps from the PL stamp set and little embellishments. The whole composition is simple – almost nothing. It was like a puzzles. I have nothing to add to this description. I didn’t think then, I just feel these colors.

badday1

badday3

What’s going on?! I made another ‚brown/beige’ layout?!! Is it still me?!! Well, yep. This is still I, Anna-Maria 🙂 I was so inspired by these amazing PL cards! Look at this awesome wooden ‚&’ card! How could I not use it somewhere?!

ZOO SC
I just cut it a little bit (I will use the second part later, in the other project).  So this ‚&‚ card is the main inspiration for the whole page. And the rest is just the composition over the main detail… ok, and I love this photo – from the ZOO.

ZOO 1

ZOO 2

And for the desert… I made a really MINI album using Project Life cards from PL kit as a base. I had a few photos from my son’s last b-day (January 2o12) and I used them to make this little memorabilia. We have our b-day tradition – it will be the sixth year when the whole b-day eve we spent the night at blowing ballons. Last year – as you can observe on the photos – I create a kind of ballons curtain on his door.

00 b-day tradition
I took some PL cards and printables and fold them to this mini book. My son adore this full of colour album and keep it on his shelf 🙂 How do you like the idea of this PL mini?

213 in 2013

As a Garden Girl – a design team member of  Two Peas in a Bucket – I have a new challenge, a monthly video called 213 in 2013 in which I have to share the process of creating a layout and give you a few prompts for the weekly challenge.

213 new video

It was very hard for me to create this video because: I am shy (belive me or not), I don’t have a camera, I can’t editing the videos, and I had to explain everything I’ve done in English – so… I had to listen to my recorded voice, which is one of the most annoying things – EVER. Without a great help of my friends I’m sure I don’t advise to deal with this short movie. THANK YOU!!! Special thanks for my dear MACIEJ, who actually made all the hardest work here. ❤

FREEDOM is a state of mind.

In this video I show you how to create an almost monochrome layout using pattern papers, mists and embellishments. And your weekly prompts are:

1. use a mask and mist on the page   2. try to recycle the frames from your stickers   3. make some stamping with one motive

Here are a few words about the products I used: American Crafts Dear Lizzy and Amy Tangerine embellishments and stamps, Studio Calico mask, mist and alphabet, Lily Bee papers and ABC stickers, Basic Grey papers, Echo Park and Prima Marketing papers and chalk inks, October Afternoon labels and mist and Freckled Fawn wood chips.

Freedom 1

freedom 2

freedom 3

And now – I would like to confess something. This ‚few minutes’ video took me a lot of time which I actually don’t have a lot 😦 I was stressed out the whole month and really don’t feel ready to be a ‚video maker’ Garden Girl. I decided to leave this amazing and inspiring design team because I know that I won’t handle with this point of being a Garden Girl. So sorry if I disappointed you. I hope this is the last time. In spite of all I hope that you will like this video even if you won’t understand what I’m talking about 🙂 (I had to get drunk to record it ).
